Process vehicles safely to produce core & scrap products, enabling customers to pull parts and satisfy environmental requirements. This position focuses primarily on Front Loader operation and various material handling duties.

Pay Rate

Pay rate for Loader Operator: $17-$20 per hour

Essential Functions

  1. Operation of a Front Loader, Crusher, Fork Lift, or Skid Steer: Move vehicles, cores, scrap, and other material safely through the yard. Ensure that loads are positioned and placed securely. Use various tool attachments to segregate and dismantle light passenger vehicles.
  2. Maintenance of a Front Loader, Crusher, Fork Lift, or Skid Steer: Perform the pre-operations check and other inspections/cleaning as prescribed in the Certification course.

This job may also include any combination of the following duties:

  • De-garbage:  Remove Freon, power steering fluid, power brake fluid, batteries, excess garbage, and other items as prescribed by procedure.
  • Drain:  Remove gasoline, coolant, waste oil, transfer case oil, catalytic converters, and other items as prescribed by procedure.
  • Set & Pull:  Place vehicles on wheel stands so customers can safely access sellable parts. Remove vehicles and clean up the surrounding area in preparation for the next vehicle set. Other duties as prescribed by procedure.
  • Field De-core:  Loosen the motor and transmission mounts. Remove any remaining tires and selected core items as prescribed by the procedure.

  • Table De-core:  Dismantle engines and transmissions. Remove selected small cores, harvest wire, sort commodity materials, and perform other duties as prescribed by procedure.
  • Tire Dismantling: The tire machine separates rubber tires and wheels. Remove weights and stems. Sort tires and prepare rims for shipment.
  • Janitor: Collect and harvest core dismantled core materials. Remove debris. Identify & address safety risks in the customer area. Other duties as prescribed by procedure.
  • Miscellaneous: Assist customers as needed in a courteous manner. Prepare Gaylord boxes and pallets for shipment. Review and complete logs for regulatory and tracking purposes. Maintain and replace storm water control devices. Assist in the review and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:

  • Standing, walking, bending, climbing, and stretching are required outside in the weather for extended periods during the shift.
  • The ability to sit for 6-8 hours per day in 2-3 hour intervals.
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools and the ability to move 50 pounds are regularly required to perform routine functions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and motor skills sufficient to safely operate forklift equipment in an active work area.
  • Regular and peripheral vision sufficient to safely operate forklift equipment in an active work area and perform job functions as described above.
  • Hearing must be sufficient to operate forklift equipment in an active work area safely.

Job Conditions

Necessary Qualifications

Description

The Vehicle Purchasing Agent (VPA) is responsible for providing quality, efficient customer service regarding vehicle purchases and related programs. VPA’s are required to purchase vehicles, verify the accuracy of documents and ensure all required forms are filled out and signed correctly. Additionally, they may be responsible for vehicle sales and ownership transfers.

Pay Rate

Pay rate for Vehicle Purchasing Agent: $16-$18

Essential Functions

  • Verify that ownership documents match VIN’s on the physical vehicle received and that the documents comply with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Schedule appointments with customers and/or contract tow vendors for vehicle pick-ups.
  • Purchase all vehicles delivered to the Store in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and company policy.
  • Receive the vehicles delivered daily in the CFJC database via the receiving handheld and/or manual entry.
  • Issue payments for vehicles and tows while maintaining and managing the daily check summary.
  • Organize, maintain, and retain copies/files for routing sheets, vehicle transfers, sales, and purchases.
  • Monitor and respond to incoming and outgoing telephone calls and faxes.
  • Sort, process, and ship documents as required.
  • Produce the daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
  • Complete any due diligence needed for vehicle purchasing’s weekly exception lists.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in general computer skills such as data entry and e-mail.
  • Able to communicate with customers/vendors in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to use time wisely and prioritize multiple competing tasks.
  • Able to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including overtime.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus but not required.
  • Ability to obtain and retain knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Basic automotive knowledge/experience preferred but not required

Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions

  • Standing, lifting, walking, bending, and stretching are regularly required to perform customer care, production, and environmental/safety responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain the cleanliness of the facility by mopping, sweeping, etc., as required.
  • Vision must be sufficient to perform job functions safely as described above.
  • Able to work on feet (stand and walk) for assigned work shifts.
